GPON: An ONU can be online and still have no service. DBA/VLAN/LINE/RULE profiles, mapping/GEMPORT/flow and the end-to-end VLAN path must be analyzed together.

Diagnosis by symptom

OLT G08/G16

ONU/ONT offline

  1. Confirm PON, serial/ONU-ID and incident time.
  2. Check ONU/PON state and alarms.
  3. Validate optical power and ODN.
  4. Compare ONUs behind the same splitter.
  5. Validate authorization/profiles.
  6. Raise the fault domain to PON/OLT if several ONUs are affected.
GPON

ONU online without service

  1. Confirm PON/ONU stability.
  2. Review DBA/VLAN/LINE/RULE profiles.
  3. Validate mapping mode and GEMPORT.
  4. Validate flow and VLAN.
  5. Check OLT uplink/bridge.
  6. Compare with an equivalent working CPE.
OLT

Entire PON unavailable

  1. Check PON/laser/alarms.
  2. Compare other PONs.
  3. Check power and uplinks.
  4. Inspect primary ODN.
  5. Collect evidence before reboot.
  6. Escalate if the scope reaches the entire OLT.
S2300G/S3300G

VLAN without traffic

  1. Review running configuration.
  2. Validate VLAN and port mode.
  3. Check link aggregation when used.
  4. Check STP.
  5. Check MAC/ARP when applicable.
  6. Compare with a working port.
S-Series

Loop / broadcast storm

  1. Check CPU.
  2. Check buffered logs.
  3. Check storm control.
  4. Check STP and topology.
  5. Check aggregations.
  6. Isolate the smallest possible segment.
S-Series

Degraded LAG

  1. Check link aggregation.
  2. Check physical interfaces.
  3. Compare VLANs/MTU on both ends.
  4. Check LACP and inconsistent members.
  5. Validate traffic after correction.
Zeus OS

Wi-Fi client cannot connect

  1. Check SSID/security.
  2. Check client association.
  3. Check VLAN and DHCP.
  4. Check captive portal/RADIUS.
  5. Check channel/country.
  6. Correlate with Zeus INC Cloud when used.
Zeus OS

Slow/unstable Wi-Fi

  1. Check signal and client count.
  2. Check channel/width/interference.
  3. Check Ethernet uplink.
  4. Check firmware.
  5. Check roaming/capacity.
  6. Compare nearby APs.
