Troubleshooting Nokia

Operational diagnosis for 7360 ISAM/Lightspan FX, MF, DF/SF, GPON, XGS-PON and next-generation PON, focused on release, alarms, ONT, ODN, PON, line card, NT and uplinks.

nokia://troubleshooting
$ scope: ONT → ODN → PON → board → shelf
$ release: must be identified
$ principle: evidence before change
$ status: operational reference_
Nokia rule: Product + release matter. Do not treat one ISAM/Lightspan CLI syntax as universal. Confirm the exact command in the documentation for the installed product and software release before any change.

Identify the stack before operating

ISAM release

SNMP / MIB + traditional tools

7360 ISAM FX depending on release

Lightspan release

Diagnosis by symptom

GPON / XGS-PON / 25G

ONT isolated offline

  1. Confirm the impact is really isolated to one ONT.
  2. Check alarms/events and timestamp.
  3. Compare ONTs behind the same splitter.
  4. Check ODN, power and optical history.
  5. If optics are stable, validate provisioning and service.
  6. Escalate with PON, ONT-ID/serial, timestamp and evidence.
ODN

Group of ONTs offline

  1. List affected ONTs.
  2. Map them to splitters/feeder.
  3. Locate the common point.
  4. Compare the rest of the same PON.
  5. Send field support to the common point, not customer by customer.
  6. Validate end-to-end recovery.
OLT / ODN

Entire PON unavailable

  1. Check PON state and alarms.
  2. Compare other PONs on the same line card.
  3. Check the line card.
  4. Inspect primary ODN / OLT connector.
  5. Correlate with change/release.
  6. Separate physical from hardware/software failure.
Line card

Multiple PONs on one board

  1. Raise the fault domain to the line card.
  2. Check inventory/status/alarms.
  3. Check power/environment if exposed.
  4. Compare adjacent boards.
  5. Preserve evidence before reset/switchover.
  6. Follow the release-specific procedure.
NT / fabric / uplinks

Cross-shelf failure

  1. Check NT/controller and redundancy.
  2. Check uplinks and fabric.
  3. Check hardware/power alarms.
  4. Correlate multiple line cards.
  5. Validate recent change/upgrade.
  6. Escalate to N3/Nokia with an evidence bundle.
Provisioning / L2

ONT online without service

  1. Confirm PON/ONT are healthy.
  2. Validate profile/service/VLAN.
  3. Check uplink/aggregation.
  4. Compare with an equivalent working ONT.
  5. Correlate OSS/BSS/AAA when applicable.
  6. Avoid physical replacement without optical evidence.
Aggregation

Uplink saturated/degraded

  1. Check utilization and errors.
  2. Separate congestion from physical failure.
  3. Validate redundancy and members.
  4. Compare uplink capacity with PON demand.
  5. Check optics/transceiver.
  6. Open capacity planning if headroom is insufficient.
Software / release

Failure after upgrade

  1. Confirm previous and current release.
  2. Read release notes/known issues.
  3. Compare alarms/features after change.
  4. Validate configuration database and board/ONT compatibility.
  5. Avoid another change before preserving evidence.
  6. Use official rollback procedure when criteria are met.
